Fuel Filter Kit

Secondary Fuel Filter Upgrade

Secondary fuel filters, also known as final filters, are installed after the factory filter. The fuel first passes through the factory filter and then through the secondary filter before reaching the high-pressure pump. These final filters are rated at 5 microns, which means they can remove particles as tiny as 5 microns (5/1,000th of a millimeter).

Key Benefits of the Secondary (Final) Kit

  • Acts as a safeguard if contaminants bypass the factory filter
  • 2 or 5 micron filters effectively trap smaller abrasive particles, minimizing wear on the pump and injectors
  • Efficiently removes water that passes through the factory filter
  • Prevents costly repairs
  • Shields the fuel injection system
  • Maintains the cleanliness of critical engine components
  • Enhances engine performance and efficiency

Please Note: We will always use a vehicle-specific kit where available, if you have a secondary battery or catch can, this may alter where we are able to place your fuel filter kit. In some instances we may opt to use a universal style kit. We can also install these kits as 'pre' filters, please contact us for more information.

Ultimate Protection for Your Diesel Injection System

The fuel injection system is the core of any diesel engine. Water, microbial growth (algae), and fine dirt particles can harm the pump and injectors. Malfunctioning or worn injectors can even cause engine damage or failure. To prevent these issues, an additional fuel filter should be installed before or after the factory filter. Dual filtration significantly lowers the risk of contaminants reaching the injection system, saving you from potential problems.

Maintenance Guidelines

The secondary fuel filter features a removable cartridge element that traps contaminants. This element should be replaced periodically but less frequently than the primary and factory filter cartridges. The recommended interval is every 40,000 km or every second factory filter change, whichever comes first. If you encounter contaminated fuel, change the filters sooner.

Regularly inspect the filter bowl for water and drain it as needed. Failing to drain accumulated water can result in water entering the fuel injection system. We recommend checking the bowl every 5,000 km or sooner.
