Toyota Hilux N70 (2005–2015) — 3.0L 1KD-FTV

The N70 HiLux earned its name the hard way — as the ute people actually trust to turn up, work hard, and keep going. Whether yours is a single cab tray-back, an extra cab, or a dual cab doing double duty as family wagon and work truck, the appeal is the same: a proven, no-nonsense workhorse built to be loaded up and relied on.

But "built tough" and "built to its full potential" aren't the same thing. The 3.0L 1KD-FTV left the factory deliberately conservative — detuned for global emissions targets and a one-size-fits-all market. That leaves real, usable performance on the table, and a driveline that can be made to work better, last longer, and tow with far less stress.

That's where we come in.

Our N70 Upgrades

We don't bolt parts on and hope. Every upgrade we offer is chosen to address a specific limitation of the platform, and every package is tuned to work as a complete system — not a collection of mismatched modifications.

Tuning

The foundation of everything we do. A properly developed tune sharpens throttle response, lifts power and torque where you actually use it, and improves driveability under load. The 1KD rewards a tune done properly — and punishes one done lazily. Our focus is controlled, real-world calibration that manages exhaust gas temperatures and keeps the engine working within itself, not power figures chased at the expense of longevity. Done right, it's the single biggest change you'll feel — towing, touring, or daily driving.

Exhaust

The factory exhaust is a known restriction. A correctly sized aftermarket system reduces exhaust gas temperatures, improves flow, and lets the engine breathe — particularly valuable on long climbs and heavy tows, exactly where the 1KD works hardest.

Turbo

The factory variable-nozzle turbo is a known limitation — and a known wear point — on the 1KD. For owners chasing more than a tune alone can safely deliver, an upgraded turbo extends the engine's capability with more airflow, stronger mid-range, and better high-load performance. Matched and tuned properly, it transforms how the ute pulls.

Intercooler

More air and more fuel mean more heat. An upgraded intercooler keeps intake temperatures down, which protects the engine, supports consistent power, and matters most in exactly the conditions an N70 gets used in — heat, weight, and distance.

Injectors

Injectors are a known weak point on the 1KD, and a fuel system that can't keep up holds the whole package back. Upgraded or properly serviced injectors restore clean, controlled fuelling — essential once a turbo and tune lift the airflow, and a sensible reliability measure in their own right.

Clutch (manual)

The factory clutch is one of the first things to give up once torque climbs — especially under towing or off-road load. An upgraded clutch handles the increased output without the slip, fade, or premature wear that comes from asking a standard component to do more than it was rated for.

Why stage it?

Because the right build depends on how you use the vehicle. A daily-driven tourer has different needs to a dedicated tow rig or a worked ute. Our staged approach lets you start where it makes sense and build with confidence — every stage is engineered to complement the next, so nothing gets wasted.

Please note: if your vehicle is manual, we strongly recommend an heavy duty upgraded clutch be fitted before carrying out a remap. All vehicles will also require a free flowing, upgraded exhaust prior to tuning. These can be added to any package, if you do not already have a aftermarket exhaust or upgraded clutch installed. Every tune is individually tailored to the vehicle, therefore power & torque can vary from vehicle to vehicle depending on mileage, engine condition, wheel size etc. The above figures are to be treated as examples only.
